Simplicity
This painting is a reminder to keep your thoughts positive. This is my first collage and I wanted to make it very simple. Its also a reminder to monitor your thoughts carefully. If you hear or feel something negative replace those thoughts with positive words and affirmations. Sometimes this is easier said than done...which is why a painted this!!!

Kokopelli
My mind travels to the story of the hump backed Indian who would travel around and play his pipe over the crops. Surely this act would bring the bounteous harvest that was so needed and desired. I don't play a pipe, nor do I dance around my crops. Yet I ask for blessings on the seeds as I place them in the earth. The precious stones represent the gratitude and abundance we receive as we ask for blessing over our lives, and the Kokopelli, well,...... he reminds me that I've done my work, and am now asking for it to be blessed.

What To Do
Made up of layers of collage, ink, and watercolor, I mostly love the text in this piece. "What to Do." I find myself asking this question all the time. What is the best use of my time? What do my kids need from me this day? How do I best handle certain conversations? I find myself on my knees in the morning asking for help to handle everything that comes up in the day in the best way possible.

Daisy Days
Today I was working in the flowers and just enjoying the sunshine which has been a rare thing this year. I could feel the warmth on my back as I knelt down and pulled out a few weeds that had found their way into my flower bed. Gardening is a lot of work, but, I love the sunny days when the flowers reach up to touch the sunshine. Daisy Days. Yes, the daisy days of summer.:)

The Hummer
Gramma E always hung a little humming bird feeder up at her cabin at Bear Lake. She would sit on the deck, have her coffee, and just sit and wait to see the little birds that would come. She particularly enjoyed the little humming birds. She called them the "Hummers". Through the years we have found great wisdom in learning to take a little break from our cares, and sit and watch. Yes, watch for the Hummers!

Why Worry- SOLD
I had a day I was worrying about everything and everyone. I asked my angels to help me to over come these feelings. As my husband and I were driving we passed a road. I looked at the street sign, it said "Y WORRY LN." I told my husband what had happened and we both had a good laugh. Thanks angels for reminding me that there is no use or point for worrying. Enjoy life and all of its gifts you receive every day. If we would just take the time to notice them. I painted this picture because these are my favorite colors to have in my house...its a reminder to me.... Y WORRY :)

Peacefully Tall
The trees along the greenbelt behind our house are amazing. Our back fence opens up to the trail. We live in the perfect spot. It's nice to eat breakfast and have such a pretty view out of our breakfast window. A peaceful start to the day preps me for all mom duties that lie ahead.

Waiting For Rain
It has been so dry in Texas. We have inpatients flowers in four pots outside our front door, the heat is brutal to them without the rain. I've never realized how much I want rain, until we moved into our house and are responsible for a small area of nature. A small storm came last night, but we need more. Rain Rain Rain, please come today!

Lotus
Today I decided to paint a water lily. It was a sacred flower to the Egyptians and some other cultures. It grows in muddy water, yet rises above the surface to bloom with great beauty. At night it closes and sinks under the water. At dawn it rises up and opens again untouched by the impurity. I can see why it's sacred. :)

Yellow Rose
Today I painted a yellow rose. It is a symbol of friendship and caring. They also give you a sunny kind of feeling. I like that. I love the outdoors and the sun shining down on me. Of course, if the temperature stayed between 70 and 80, well, that would be as perfect as the rose.

World Of Colors
This painting was inspired while we were in California. We went to the World Of Color Show in California Adventure. It was done at night in total darkness and there were these amazing bright colors that were sprayed into the sky. They also turned these colors into characters from Disney movies which went back all the way from when my kids were very little. Being that they are now both going to be in high school it pretty much brought me to tears. This painting is to making memories with your loved ones....its really all that matters in life:)

Family Tree
I love my family and have missed all our family traditions the last four years while being away from Centerville. I created a twist on a traditional genealogy display and tried to make something fun to hang in my home to remind me of all these wonderful people.
Of course, you won't want to hang my family tree on your wall, but if you would like your own personalized tree in your colors, please email me.

Hoop It Up
I spend a lot of time watching my son Jesse shoot hoops in the court in our backyard. Basketball has many lessons you can and should use in your life as does all sports. There's a ball, a hoop, but so many ways to get there. Everyone needs a team surrounding you and supporting you. You may hit road blocks along the way. You may make moves that were unplanned but its all in the game and the lesson. Life is a gift......

Blue Bird
Our home backs a green belt in Austin, so we always have lots of creatures in our yard. Bunnies and birds are our favorites. The kids love watching 3 or 4 bunnies hop around while they eat their breakfast. They also love watching the red birds sit on our fence.
I was remembering a sad story when we lived in Provo 5 years ago. We walked by magpie birds guarding a low nest every day. Weeks later the eggs hatched and the fluffy little babies would walk around on the the concrete and bridge to the apartment. One early morning we heard the momma birds making the worst sound. I ran out the door, and saw them squawking a horrible sound while pacing around. One of the babies had fallen off the bridge ten feet down and died. I remember going to class feeling bad for the momma all day.
I think we all mourn like that momma bird when we loose a loved one or friend.

Dragonfly
One day my sister had came out to see me. We had lunch and sat on my back deck talking most of the day. I never get tired of talking to her. She loves the outdoors and loves working in her garden. She's very connected to nature. When she was leaving a dragonfly with blue spots running down it's body flew over near her. Then it circled her car 3 times. It stayed nearby until she left....Interesting.....She has alway loved dragonflies ever since Kevin Costner made the movie. So, today I share with you: "Dragonfly". I have set him in the middle of precious jewels to celebrate it's royal, yet simple beauty and...who knows, maybe there's more to it than we know.....

Gentle Giant
Today I got to spend a couple of hours with my granddaughter Shelby. She came into this world with an amazing love of animals. We drove down to a road where there was tall white fences around a field with a few horses grazing. A big horse came right over to the fence where Shelby reached out and cradled it's head in her arms and pet her on the nose. I followed her lead, and pet the huge nose. Gentle and loving. A peaceful thing to share. So, today I painted "The Gentle Giant".

I Hope You Dance-SOLD
While I was painting this I was thinking of my daughter Marisa when she was little. All she wanted was to be a princess, wear her Disney princess dresses and twirl around on her tippie toes. As you all know who have kids, she will always be my princess no matter how much time passes. In life, you may fall, make mistakes, take a wrong path...but you must always get back up and continue to dance. I hope you always continue to dance in your life...

Patient Pods
I like Pods. I haven't painted any in a while.
I realized today, that I am a very impatient person. When I exercise, I want results now. When I pray, I want answers now. When I try to teach my kids something, I want them to learn it right away. I'm not good at waiting. :) I have much to learn
It seems like many of God's creations wait so patiently, especially the trees and flowers. They wait for rain to nourish them and grow upward towards Heaven. Often I wait, but not "content to wait if necessary," like the dictionary says.
Mixed Media and Acrylic on a 6 x 8 inch flat canvas panel board.
Starting bid: $15.

Daisies
Today I chose to paint some Daisies. They are a happy flower that calls out to the world "Hey everyone, smile! The sun will come out." Simple,..yet beautiful.
We just came home from the cabin at Bear Lake. The water is really
high and the ground is pretty wet. The daisies are starting to pop up
in the flower beds, and in a few other places the wind must have taken
the seeds to. Grandma E planted them many years ago, and they live on.
So does her memory as we see the little touches of life appear. So
daisies it is.
This is an 8"x8"acrylic on 1/2" wrapped canvas.
Starting bid: $20

Peace Be Still
Hi, I'm Abbey Aldridge. I'm a wife and mom of two.
I decided to paint a mom and baby today. I was thinking about how children are so amazing. They don't judge, they just love. They don't compare. They are not in a hurry. There is just a pure simplicity that many adults loose.
I love walks with my kids. No cell phone, no computer, just quiet. I attempted to contrast a busy background of painted over text, ink writing-"Peace Be Still," with a simple mom and child.
"Peace Be Still"
5 1/2 inch by 5 1/2 inch, Acrylic and Ink on recycled paper
Starting bid: $15 dollars.
